With only two short weeks until competitions, the FTC Chesapeake District is urgently in need of volunteers for our Richmond I and II Qualifiers at Falling Creek Middle School on December 13 & 14!
Our greatest need is for judges. Judges must be unaffiliated with any competing FTC team, so this is an ideal role for mentors, alumni, or community members who are not directly tied to teams attending the event. However, because we are running two events, (one on Saturday, one on Sunday), team-affiliated adults can serve as judges on the day their team is not competing.
I am reaching out to inquire if anyone has a 2025 Unearthed Challenge Set that they would be willing to donate or sell after your season. Our team is looking for a complete set to use for practice and development for states, and any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If you have a set available or know of possible sources, please let me know.
I've got the robot game models and mats for seasons 2022, 2023, and 2024 up for grabs in DC/NOVA. Ideal for any new teams looking for an alternate challenge in the off season, or for after school programs looking to add STEM. (Robots not available.) No charge, but we'll need to find a mutually agreeable location for the handoff.
Thank you for your generous offer! I am very interested in picking up the robot game models and mats for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. These will be a fantastic resource for our team and STEM program. Please let me know your availability next week, and we can coordinate a date, time, and location in the DC/NOVA area that works for both of us. I’m flexible and happy to accommodate your schedule. Looking forward to meeting you soon and thank you again!

Dear all, Kindly help me to clarify following question interruption of robot / precision token penalty.. If our team presses the button to launch the robot , and quickly realizes, they didn't attach one of the attachments and want to interrupt the robot as the robot is within the reach. If the robot is still in the launch area completely or partially / half in the launch area, is it still considered as Interruption and team loses a precision token. Thanks,Srini S.
If it does not pass the plane of the launch area, it is not a penalty. If at any point it crosses the launch area, it is a penalty. Additionally, if there are any "deliverables" on the robot, and it goes outside of launch, those items are forfeited.

It is always considered an interruption when you touch your robot, regardless of where the robot is.
When you touch your robot, if any part of your robot is even partially outside home (or if any part of anything your robot is touching is even partially outside home), then you will lose a precision token.
Dear all, A quick question , on mission -7-heavy lifting, Can the robot go through the empty area on the right hand side / Home area to reach Mission 7 to complete the removal of the millstone from the base or it has to only go through the field mat area .... ? Thanks in advance, Srini S.
My understanding is if any part of the robot crosses any of the boundary on the map once it leaves homebase - u cant continue to do a mission as it will be considered out of bounds
Thanks Sarath Kolla C: 203.809.7772 -- sent from iphone (please excuse typos)
There is no requirement that a robot be outside of home (which includes the empty area as well as the launch area) to earn points so it is ok for the robot to drive through the home area to reach the heavy lifting mission model. There IS a requirement for it to start with a legal launch though so it would have to start in one of the launch areas and not be interrupted. Any interruption by the team (regardless of if it's in home or not) requires a re-launch.
Dear all, A quick question , on mission -3 Mineshaft explorer, If the minecart passes through the entry area and after that if it falls off the track or not standing in correct way in the track, , will we still get 30 points or only if the minecart is in the track ? Thanks in advance, Srini S.
The scoring condition for Mission 03 is that the mine cart is on the opposing team's field (and that it passed through the mineshaft to get there) . There is no requirement that it still be on the track. Anywhere on their side would count (on the track, on the mat, in their forum, etc.). There was also an update issued that states that if your team successfully sends your mine cart onto their field and the other team losses possession of it (due to an interruption), your team would still get the points for delivering it to their field.
Quick question - at inspection, all equipment must fit in the launch zone borders and be under 12 inches in height per the rules. At launch, can the robot with attachment be taller than 12 inches? I can't find confirmation on that one way or the other.

The height restriction only applies to inspection. There are no height restrictions at any other point in the game, including launch.

We have many items left over from our FTC seasons (such as gobilda/actobotics motors, build kits, tools, field setup items etc). We also have a foldable FLL table available. If anyone is interested please send me a direct email and we can schedule a time to visit.
