I am new to First Lego league. I am actually new to robotics. I want to start a team with my children and a few friends. I bought everything last year but it was too late so we could not complete things or join any competition.
I would appreciate any advice with regards to the process, how to join competitions, etc. We live in Washington, DC so, if someone knows of a high school student, college student or anyone in the list who would be interested in coaching, please, let me know.
Hello Elena, Many of the teams really aren't thinking very much about next year just yet, so responses might be a little slow, but don't worry! There are a lot of really great teams in the DC area that love helping other teams out. You'll soon be overwhelmed (in a good way!) with offers to help. I'm in the Norfolk area, so I can't help you much, but I am very confident that you will get all the help you need.
Thank you for your email!!! I can’t wait to start!

Elena, I'd recommend you take one of the online courses that you can find free on coding and take it now. During the summer (after all the spring ball sports have ended) meet with the kids weekly and let them learn how to code and start working with the stuff you bought for last season..building the models and working thru the manuals on creating a project and Core Values. Spending 6-7 hours on the course now means you are at least 2 steps ahead of the kids come summer. :-) By the end of the summer, some of them will

This is my FLL team’s project from last season, working to make it easier for people interested in FLL to connect.
(Disclaimer: While the VA/DC leadership has had very nice things to say about their project, this is not an official FIRST website. Of course, you should always practice good internet safety when interacting with strangers on the internet.)
For postage and a small contribution (?$50?) to our FLL Team, the TopBots, your kids can have previous year's Challenge mat to practice on. I do have the LEGO set for 2023 season also available. Feel free to contact me for more details. Coach Kelly aka Kelly McBride Delph [ [log in to unmask] ]( mailto:[log in to unmask] )
Hello coaches, I like to get any recommendations on domestic air travel with a compact robot using the EV3. We are are rookie team, traveling to Houston for the World Championship, and I'm not sure if we should pack the robot that has the EV3 brick (that has an internal rechargeable battery), or should we carry this as our hand / cabin baggage.

You have to carry it on the plane. We used the Lego totes and added bungee cords for extra security.
