Our technology department has been told that the LEGO Mindstorms app is no longer supported and we are unable to open the app and continue to program our robots. Does anyone know if this is the correct replacement to continue using our EV3 on a Chromebook? [image: image.png]

We are able to use it on iPad just fine. Not sure if this is an option for you.

The program is a good replacement for the EV3. It uses the blockie coding that is also used with LEGO SPIKE. It will take a little bit of time to transition the students from the Mindstorms coding style to this newer format. It closely resembles actual coding by using words.
So my school system will NOT do the replacement app either. Here is the answer I received from technology:
Android apps are not supported in our Chrome environment since they are not specifically written for the Chrome OS. Additionally the Android apps are not compliant with FERPA. This is unfortunate that LEGO is no longer providing a Chrome OS app.
So the only thing I can come up with is that they will allow an app that is in the CHROME web store, but not the Play Store. Leslie Bulger Teaching should be such that what is offered is perceived as a valuable gift and not as hard duty. ~Albert Einstein

VA DC FLL Teams, Have you had a problem with your Spike Prime Gyro? Probably you were trying to do a gyro turn, and the robot just kept spinning and spinning? I have heard it from several teams and online, so it is a problem that is somewhat widely known.
I did some troubleshooting and found that if you hold the robot while it is booting up, almost certainly your gyro will not work. However, if you set the robot down for at least five seconds or so, it usually fixes itself. Here's a video I took of the problem:
Downgrading can be problematic. But it is possible. Officially from Lego, this seems to be the only way: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://spikelegacy.legoeducation.com/hubdowngrade/*step-1__;Iw!!N6YHze6lT7thMl0!Lsw3Z5SgY1W1_9QVGaVRAkpOsizCrsomxX2UwhUXbYdqdMIRfPkqKYON_A7XHHrSkr69t0CeBeP3CkvW0oiuD_ZheDexYu1l7vov$ <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://spikelegacy.legoeducation.com/hubdowngrade/*step-1__;Iw!!N6YHze6lT7thMl0!OPyEHT6gPedcM3wlu-cohtNv5-5zo_UlI5Z5uR0iONgkwJEueIeg_Fdds7K7H3FJVqY_hM2hubRN6NLKS2weyw$>
Requires a computer with Chrome OS, or a Mac with a Chrome browser.
I also found this: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://dfu.pybricks.com/__;!!N6YHze6lT7thMl0!Lsw3Z5SgY1W1_9QVGaVRAkpOsizCrsomxX2UwhUXbYdqdMIRfPkqKYON_A7XHHrSkr69t0CeBeP3CkvW0oiuD_ZheDexYgm6qQfW$ <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://dfu.pybricks.com/__;!!N6YHze6lT7thMl0!OPyEHT6gPedcM3wlu-cohtNv5-5zo_UlI5Z5uR0iONgkwJEueIeg_Fdds7K7H3FJVqY_hM2hubRN6NKgrLilGg$>
But I am not sure it will work because pybricks is a specific OS outside of Lego's official OS. I think it will work, but I am not sure. Be careful.
Thanks for the info. We finally got the firmware downgraded - we had to use a mac computer, since ipad, and any laptops with windows 10 or windows 11 would not work.
