Do you have a child, age 9-14, who is a LEGO fanatic?  Then don’t miss
this great FREE workshop for newcomers to the exciting world of FIRST
LEGO League (FLL).  FIRST LEGO League is the brainchild of inventor
Dean Kamen, who designed the Segway.  FLL’s main objective is to get
kids excited about science, robotics and inventing.  The workshop will
be presented by local FLL teams, mentors and coaches on Saturday,
September 24, 2011, from 2pm-4:30pm.  The event is being hosted by the
YMCA Potomac Overlook located on 10709 Indian Head Highway, Fort
Washington, MD 20744.  Don’t miss learning insider tips on how to have
a great rookie season and how to build a strong team.  Last year over
15,000 teams which translates to over 150,000 students, from 50
countries participated in FLL!

The ABC's of FLL and is open to all kids and their parents who are
participating in FLL for the first time.  All areas of the program
will be covered from getting a jumpstart on your rookie season, to all
the ins-and-outs of the FLL program.  Ideas for preparing for
competitions, an overview of what to expect in tournament judging
sessions, robot demonstrations, hands-on activities and a special
session for coaches round out the workshop.

Because of space limitations, we ask that participants pre-register by
September 22nd (or until the workshop is full if that happens before
September 22nd).  Attached is the ABCs of FLL Brochure which gives the
details about the program, and a flyer to share with others.
