FYI -

LEGO manufacturing groups parts together in bags and weighs them pretty
precisely to make sure they have all the necessary parts. They like to get
things exactly right all the time (and usually do) but if they err, the like
to err on having an extra piece or two (which cost them very little) rather
than to be a piece or two short (which they then have to mail to you which
is very expensive).

There are a bunch of tiny pieces that have been left over in the kits
I have assembled. The only ones that surprised me were the 2-3 flat
2x1 red pieces. The other ones made sense, as they are small and it
might be easy to lose one during assembly.
