I have always kept the kits for future teams. I have never had an issue with that. It probably depends on how you originally phrased the costs to the parents however. In your email, it says they paid $150 for the Lego Activity and not the "legos." Hopefully the participants understand that.

hi All
I am a rookie coach w/ 8 rookie members ages 10/11 in 4/5 grade. 6
memebers are moving to a new school. 2 are moving to 5th. Each member paid
$150 for the Lego activity. We had no external funding. I know parents and
students alike are asking - so who gets to keep the robot?
Personally I would like to keep it for future teams I may coach, but I am
not sure how this is decided for other teams.
