Hey there, Robin!

Welcome to FLL. I hope your team has a great season! I recommend the “FLL Share and Learn” group on Facebook. They were super helpful when I was new last year.

I haven’t gotten my set either. Most US teams haven’t. Apparently they didn’t start shipping until 7/31, and mine didn’t actually leave Texas until this morning. And they’re shipping ground.

We had a kickoff on Wednesday, And this coming week I have two hours with the kids every morning (the only time between now and Labor Day), at least two days of which we will be now be doing without models, so I’m thinking about it too!

Do you have your EV3 set already? (Those shouldn’t be affected by this shipping delay.). Your rookies could build a robot from the instructions and get started on making it drive around. You can do plenty of robot building and programming practice without the mission models.

You can also start working on the project. What inspires the kids about space exploration? Where would they like to learn more? There are great videos about living in the ISS from NASA and ESA that you can find on YouTube.

You could also talk about (or even illustrate!) the core values, and do s teamwork exercise. There are lots of great ideas on FLLtutorials.com. This is a major judging area, and now is a great time to start.

I hope that helps, and welcome!!

Was it just sent to the coach's email? We registered and paid on June 3rd. I don't see anything on my dashboard about a shipping notice. And I haven't received any emails. I'm just hoping I didn't screw something up. My team of newbies are all set to meet on Sunday to check everything out and I was hoping to have the challenge set by then. I'm in the que to speak with someone from FLL. But not surprisingly, they are having a "heavier than normal call volume". So I'm not optimistic I'll hear back soon.
