The Bright and the Good:
Exploring the connection between intellectual and moral virtues

Deadline: August 1, 2013

This volume addresses issues pertaining to both intellectual and moral virtues. Papers from all philosophical approaches on topics both historical and contemporary are welcome. Possible topics and questions include (but are not limited to):

•	What is the relationship between mathematical thinking and moral virtue?
•	(How) can villainous people occasionally do good things?
•	Is it an intellectual virtue or vice to trust other intellectuals?
•	What is the role of intellectual humility in epistemic disagreement?
•	What is the nature of moral judgment?
•	Are there tensions between professions requiring high levels of intelligence (such as being a physician or a CEO) and the development of virtue?
•	What is the relationship between moral development and education?
•	How might we continue to respect persons who are incapable of developing good character and/or intellectual virtue?
•	Is there a unity of virtues? What does this mean for the relationship (if anything) between moral and intellectual virtues?
•	Are there particular virtues related to the development of technology?
•	Do any virtues preclude wisdom?
•	How are beliefs and desires factored in to the moral motivation of character?
