FEAST folks:

My department is hiring a tenure-track religious studies position this year with
an application deadline of November 28; we have broad interests in AOCs as you
can see in the job ad, below. The Department Chair is currently Sue Cataldi.
Our last Chair was Margaret "Peg" Simons. In my experience, we are a woman-
friendly, family-friendly, and feminist-friendly department in a university with
an active interdisciplinary Women's Studies program. Faculty members in the
Department of Philosophy have a wide variety of foci and disciplinary approaches
including both analytic and continental scholars. Many of our faculty members
who do not strictly do feminist philosophy use it in their teaching and research
as a valuable philosophical tool. We are also actively seeking to increase our
departmental diversity.

Our department has a large cadre of philosophy majors as well as many philosophy
minors and religious studies minors. More than a quarter of SIUE students are
first-generation college students and we have a fairly diverse student
population in many senses. SIUE is dedicated to the teacher-scholar model
emphasizing both pedagogy and research. In my personal experience, SIUE has
strong support for faculty research ranging from travel grants for conference
presenters to assistance applying for both internal and external grants.

In addition, we are only 30 minutes from the city of St. Louis and its many
cultural attractions including other universities with active philosophy
departments, a world-class zoo, and excellent museums (many of
them free as in the case of the St. Louis Art Museum whose motto "Dedicated to
Art and Free For All" is carved indelibly into its lintel).

Please consider applying or passing this message on to others who might wish to
apply. Folks can also find this public job posting in the JFP (Jobs for
Philosophers) and on the SIUE job site.
