SWIP UK is very pleased to announce this year's recipients of
recognition for women-friendliness:

Women-Friendly Department:

1. Department of Philosophy, University of Oregon: The University of
Oregon's Philosophy Department is the only program  in the  US that
requires all its PhD graduate students and most of its MA  students to
take two courses in feminist philosophy during theirtime  with us. The
program is structured around the "four traditions":Analytic,
Continental, American and Feminist  philosophy.  The faculty is 40%
female, and the graduate students are consistently around 50% female.
 The department is recognized in the NRC rankingsas #3 in the nation
in diversity.  It is the home of the Feminist Philosophy Research
Interest Group which is funded by the Center for the Study of Women in
Society, a robust feminist research center at the University
of Oregon (website: http://csws.uoregon.edu/).

Women-Friendly Initiatives:

1. Department of Philosophy, University of Edinburgh:  Edinburgh Women
in Philosophy Group.

2.  Department of Philosophy, University of Michigan: Proactive
measures to improve gender balance in PhD students.
