I wanted to chime in with my apologies to all those who felt slighted about being left off the list. (If it helps, I wasn't on the list myself when we beta-tested the database and had to add myself). Sally describes the process accurately - we just wanted to slap up as many names we could find largely by consulting existing lists and then ask people to crowd-source so that we could get as comprehensive a database as possible.

We hope that the geographical search function will help conference organizers with limited funds to find women in the area to talk at their conference. There are so many ways in which this database can be useful to editors, hiring committees, conference organizers, and the APA itself. So please help the profession help itself by adding yourself to the database and making corrections via the Submit tab. The profession needs to have this information and the APA doesn't have the funds to hire people to do it.

On that note, if I could just add that Sally Haslanger not only spent hours and hours of her time on this project but also completely funded it out of her own research funds. Getting this database together was a resource-hungry project on many levels, and it would not exist without her and the people -- especially Rebecca Millsop -- who worked as a team to make it happen. I want too to echo Sally's remarks about how teamwork can really make things happen.
