thanks, christina, for your response. I appreciate it.
I just want to clarify that I understand removing hierarchy about the isms. I was speaking about my experience in that I'm white and so I'm not a victim of racism as blacks are,but I'm disadvantaged and have experienced classism. Not pegging them, just stating facts. And I know that the categories themselves are for a short hand in talking about it, but in reality, no one is strictlyin these categories like some mechanic operation of slots or something. I was at a conference once where we were asked questions to determine our disadvantages and advantages. The questionsalone were thought provoking. We were to step forward if we had something, and step back if we didn't. It's not as if all people moved together. People were scattered acrossthe room and moving back and forth. I have to say that I was the second from the back of the room, meaning I had the 2nd degree of disadvantages of people in the room.I didn't the exercise to know that in general. It was already clear to me, knowing all the people in my life that would never go to a conference like that, that I had takensome significant steps out of the comfort zone of my familiar background. It was clear. And in fact, life has turned in a way that I am unable to participate like I useto because of lack of resources.
Anyway, I do believe that each of us are on set of struggles that come from our system and everyone is harmed. I 'get' what you are saying.
I also was very glad to read about what you said about children because I've been so aware and focused on that, especially now that I'm watching my first grandson.I wish I could find, or be in a better connection, with others who share similar concerns and wish that I could be doing more about working toward solutions.
Thanks again. I enjoy the opportunity to discuss these things that matter to me.

> Your words have been received well by me, thank you for posting this incredibly important reminder and reflection. I agree with most you say here. I do not put class over race or race over class or sexism above capital or capital above sexism etc etc in importance or as root cause. They are so related, unfortunately, and so dependent on each existing in order to perpetuate the other that I just cannot say one is more a problem or cause then another. That being said, all other things being equal, you are right on the mark! The only added unfortunate complication I would have to draw attention to is the way we raise our children in this and other countries, that is, the extreme amounts of child abuse, violence, humiliation, and what we implicitly and explicitly teach our children about violence, money, race, class, women and on and on. The statistics on child abuse in PA alone are horrific. As Alice Miller and others have proven repeatedly, humiliating a child or doing any form of violence most often if not always leads to those children becoming adults who either are also violent outwardly or who find indirect ways to abuse others. In this this, I truly feel Ms. Reily, the author of the CHE brainstorm(s), has found yet another way to abuse individuals in her adult life. Education, as I'm sure you'll agree, is key here, but education about child rearing is also related to the class-race-sex issues as well.
