The Department of Philosophy at the University of Nevada, Reno, invites applications for a one-year Lecturer position (with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years) to begin Fall 2015. The teaching load is 4-4. AOS/AOC: Open, but successful candidate must be prepared to teach upper-division survey courses in the history of ethical theory (PHIL 317) and the history of political philosophy (PHIL 318). Ability to teach bioethics, world religions, or other value-theory courses desirable. Applicants must have PhD completed, and be eligible to work in the US, prior to the start of appointment (July 1, 2015).

The University of Nevada is the state’s historic land-grand institution; it serves approximately 20,000 students. The university is ranked as a Tier 1 institution by “U.S. News and World Report” and offers an array of degree programs at all levels. Reno is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, a 30-minutes drive from Lake Tahoe. Reno/Tahoe is recognized as a world-class outdoor recreation area. Additional areas of interest in the proximity include; The Black Rock Desert, Sacramento, Yosemite National Park, Napa/Sonoma, the Bay Area, and San Francisco. Required Qualifications:
Successful candidate must be prepared to teach upper-division survey courses in the history of ethical theory (PHIL 317) and the history of political philosophy (PHIL318).
Applicants must have PhD completed, and be eligible to work in the US, prior to the start of appointment (July 1, 2015).

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to teach bioethics, world religions, or other value-theory courses desirable.
