Hey all! As your schedules start to open up, I wanted to remind you of this opportunity to become more involved in FEAST by serving on the program committee for the next conference. If you're interested or know of a colleague or graduate student who would do well in this role, please let me know by Tues. 5/15. See below for details and thanks in advance for your help!

Best wishes--
Jean Keller

Dear FEAST,

Below is a call for volunteers to serve on the FEAST 2013 program committee. YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF FEAST IN ORDER TO SERVE ON THIS COMMITTEE. If you are not currently a member or your membership has lapsed, please (re)join. You can renew your membership through the Philosophy Documentation Center http://secure.pdcnet.org/afeast/Association-for-Feminist-Ethics-and-Social-Theory-(FEAST) The conference will be held at the Fiesta Resort Conference Center in Tempe, Arizona (October 17-19, 2013).

The jobs of the program committee include:
1. Working in consultation with the diversity committee to increase diversity and accessibility of the program and the conference.
2. Deciding on a theme for the conference.
3. Inviting keynote speakers, and any other speakers or panels to be invited (this will take place by the end of this summer).
3. Writing and publicizing a call for submissions (to be sent out at the beginning of September 2012).
4. Refereeing submissions (full-length papers) to make selections. (Each committee member will probably read about 15-20 papers. This part of the process will take place in February-March 2013, and will be quite labor intensive for several weeks).
5. Coordinating with the local arrangements committee about the number and timing of sessions and any other events that must be scheduled.
6. Making decisions about other events, besides keynotes and regular paper sessions, to be included on the program.
7. Organizing papers into sessions, and putting together the complete program (by April 2013).
8. Finding session chairs, modifying the program as needed in case of cancellations, etc.

If you are interested in being a member of the 2013 program committee, please send your name, email address, title and institutional affiliation, and areas of interest/specialization to Jean Keller [log in to unmask] by Tuesday May 15, along with a short description of any relevant experience that you have, such as serving on other program committees or editing journals or anthologies. While such experience is not a requirement for serving on this program committee, it is important that at least some members of the committee are experienced.

If you wish to nominate someone else to be on the program committee, please send me their name, title, institutional affiliation, e-mail address, and a brief explanation of what you think this person would contribute to the program committee. The FEAST Steering Committee will choose from among the volunteers and nominees to form the program committee and will make every attempt to ensure a diverse committee.

Graduate students who would like to serve on this committee should contact Katharine Schweitzer ([log in to unmask]) , who is the graduate student representative to the Steering Committee, with a note expressing interest in being a graduate student representative to the program committee. The graduate representative will participate in the discussions and decision-making of the committee, but will not referee submissions.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Jean
