Fall 2011 Midwest SWIP Call for Papers

***************DEADLINE EXTENDED************

Papers, proposals for panels, and panels due August 31st, 2011.

Conference date and location:
Northwestern University, November 4 – 6, 2011.

Please submit papers, proposals for panels, and panels to:
Crista Lebens ([log in to unmask]) and Jeanine Weekes Schroer ([log in to unmask])

The Midwest Division of the Society for Women in Philosophy invites papers in all areas of feminist philosophy, theory, and praxis. Papers ranging from political/ethical/social theory to epistemology, mind and metaphysics are welcome as are panels, performances and other work that engages feminist praxis and theorizing. Midwest SWIP also especially encourages work that engages the intersections of gender, race, class, sexuality and ability. In commemoration of the contributions of Sarah Ruddick, who died recently, we welcome papers, panels, and workshops on her work.

The Midwest Division of the Society for Women in Philosophy meeting is an interdisciplinary conference with a particular emphasis on troubling the disciplinary practice of philosophy and the theory/practice distinction.

Attending Midwest SWIP:
MSWIP endeavors to make attendance affordable for all participants by requiring no attendance fees and providing snacks throughout the conference. Please contact Rebecca Mason [log in to unmask] to request local housing and we will solicit community member hosts. Travel grants ($70) are available on a first come, first served basis though priority will be given to students, the unemployed and the underemployed. You need not be a member of SWIP to participate in the conference, to request local housing, or to request a travel grant.

Further information about Midwest SWIP is available on our website: http://blogs.uww.edu/midwestswip/
