The following is being organized by Economics Department at JMU. Some of you might be interested in attending.

Folks,
It is a pleasure to announce that the Inaugural Lecture of the newly endowed JIN Lecture Series in Political Economy will be given this Thursday, April 8, at 4 PM in HHS 2301. Speaking will be Timur Kuran, Professor of Economics and Political Science and Family Professor of Islamic Studies at Duke University, widely considered to be the world's leading expert on Islamic economics. He will speak on "Islam and Underdevelopment: Legal Roots of Economic Stagnation in the Middle East." The donor for this lecture series, Dr. Richard Fink, will also make introductory remarks. This promises to be one of the most important lectures to have been given on the JMU campus, and all are invited to attend.

J. Barkley Rosser, Jr.
Professor of Economics and Kirby L. Cramer, Jr. Professor of Business Administration
Coordinator of the JMU Economics Seminar Series
