Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Dear Community Members:

Assalma Alekum:

Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow (Tuesday, 8/30). Eid prayers will be
held at 9:30 AM at the Islamic Center of Shenandoah Valley, 1330 Country
Club Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22802. For directions to the Center, please
visit the IASV directions page.

We suggest the following steps so everyone in the community will enjoy their
Eid celebrations:

1. Please arrive early so parking can be managed efficiently and prayers
will begin on time.

2. If parking is full at the masjid, you may be directed to the neighboring
National College or Lowes Home Improvement Store parking lots. Royal Cab has
offered to shuttle people to the mosque from these locations.

3. There will be a community breakfast after the prayers. Please bring your
favorite breakfast foods and drinks in generous quantities.

More from the Media:

Dawn (Pakistan) newspaper:

DUBAI: Saudi Arabia announced Monday that the Eid-ul-Fitr feast marking the
end of the fasting month of Ramazan will be on Tuesday, in a statement aired
on state television Al-Ekhbariyah.

Religious authorities in Saudi Arabia, home to Islam's holiest shrines, said
the new moon had been sighted and that Ramazan ends on Monday with the feast
to follow the next day.

The Islamic calendar is a lunar one, and most Muslim countries set the
beginning of Eid-ul-Fitr by the sighting of the new moon.

Egyptian state television, quoting Islamic authorities, too declared that
Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Tuesday.

The United Arab Emirates and Qatar also announced the end of Ramadan.
