So this presumes that "understanding" results from "embedding students" in a *digital* "environment." But isn't that exactly what goes on everyday anyway (i.e. where else are you going to live?) . . . !! Why would "embedding" someone lead to "understanding" the world? Did embedding people in the TELEVISION environment, as most people lived their lives from c. 1950-2000, lead to them "understanding" what was being done to them? (Hint: no, it didn't.) "Control" and "mastery" certainly needs understanding. Otherwise, you wind up with the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" problem and the brooms never stop dumping water on your head.
