Cathy,

There’s not a “right” answer for this and – this early in the season it’s not the best time set a number.

There are hundreds of ways to analyze the field and break down missions. For a rookie team, I’d say have your team pick one they think they can do – then look at similar missions and keep expanding what’s possible. If I told you most rookie teams do 5 missions – that’s what you’ll focus on when, in fact, you might find by challenging the team you could easily do 8-10. Think about combining missions so that you spend less time traveling in/out of base. Look at you-tube videos from past seasons and challenge your team to adapt techniques to solve this year’s missions. There’s a lot of material out there so push hard to solve as many as you can – but each team is different. At the end of the season you can look back and know that you did all you could do – and that will be really satisfying.

You can find all the details about registering with VA-DC FLL on our website at: http://www.va-dcfll.org but a direct shortcut to the team registration page is:

Subject: [VADCFLL-L] how many missions to go for?

Hello
We are a rookie team trying to figure out a good number of the missions to tackle. About how many missions do most teams go for? All of them? Half? We have a tight timeline so I want to challenge the kids as much as possible without stressing them out. This is their first year doing a team.

Also, where do we register and pay for our team to join the VA DC FLL? We are registered and paid for nationally but on the VA DC FLL site I can only find links to register nationally. Where do you pay the $125 to register regionally?

Thank you!
