Thomas...the rules will never be written in a way that tells your team what to do. It simply tells you what is possible and what is not possible to get points from. The rest is up to your team to be creative and innovative in their approach to solving the missions set before them. Your score of 300+ is a great score for a first year team and it would be good to just enjoy what they've learned this year. A lot of innovative thinking of how to solve the missions comes from experience and learning from other teams. You will see so many different, creative ways of solving the same problem...that's what makes it fun. However, the rules are never going to tell you how to solve the missions...only what is possible. This year they just required a little closer reading. If you go back in and read the rules (and the updates) on the truck mission, they really are clear on the two conditions that are needed to score 110 pts. 1) The bin has to be west of the truck guide, and 2) the yellow bin has to be resting on the truck. The rest is up to your team. That's a good challenge for the off-season...your team can think of as many ways as they can to get both sets of points and see if they can accomplish them. But personally, right now, when you've just finished your tournament, it might be good to just let them feel proud of the work they've done this season and how much fun they had.

Outside of violating other rules (e.g. Taking models apart), it doesn't matter how it happens. They don't want to spell out getting to the "final black line" because the rules generally aren't about HOW to accomplish things. There are a few "method constraints" this year, but the truck isn't one of them.
In the linked YouTube video, it looks like the yellow bin is still over the end of the guide and thus not completely east of the guide.
