Absolutely. And if the kids are all “it’d just be a waste”, point out that if nothing else, they’ll learn a lot by watching OTHER teams. You’ve only got seven events during the day – there’s tons of time to watch others!

This is my 7th year coaching and I've never had a team that thought they were ready - Including the year we went to state.  There is always something more to do.

 

You get 40 points by walking up to the table and setting the robot down.  My first year, you could get 28. There was a team at that regional that scored 6, 12 and 16 points (YOU got 28 for doing nothing), but they were there and I'll bet if you asked them, they were glad they came.  Learn from the  Jamaican bobsled team : show up and compete.  You'll be glad you did and disappointed if you don't.
