Subject: [VADCFLL-L] Volunteering at the VA/DC FLL State Tournament

Hello coaches!

Congratulations to all the teams who participated in Week 1 qualifiers around the state! I hope everyone had a terrific time showcasing all your hard work this season. I am always so impressed by what FIRST LEGO League teams can do! We have an upcoming volunteer opportunity for you at the Virginia/DC FIRST LEGO League State Championship! This is one of the largest FIRST LEGO League tournaments in the world, and it is an amazing event! Volunteers are needed in many roles, including judges, referees, tablesetters, scorekeepers, and line queuers. If you are done with your season, please consider coming to this event at James Madison University in Harrisonburg on December 1 and 2 to volunteer. As a coach, you will learn so much about the program that will help you help your team next season. (It really is the best thing you can do if you want to learn more!) As a parent, you can give back to this incredible program that our children have been able to participate in. If your team is advancing to the State Championship, please ask parents on your team to volunteer. They can volunteer in the opposite age division so there is no conflict of interest.

If you would like to apply to volunteer at this event, please see the attached PDF. You will need to create a FIRST account, complete your youth protection background screening, and complete any training needed for your role. All of this can be done directly through the FIRST dashboard. I have attached a PDF with directions on how to register. Once you have a FIRST account, you can search for events, and you can filter by state and program to easily find the VA/DC FLL Championship.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and we hope you can join us for this amazing event! Many thanks for your continued support!

All the best,

Sonya Shaver

Volunteer Coordinator
