Hi Richard,
I once coached FLL at a middle school. We got so many kids wanting to be a part of it that we turned it into a year-round club. Kids paid dues (I think it was $40 then), and we kept a points chart. Those with the most points got to be part of the competition teams. The dues money covered the costs for the teams; the number of teams determined by the money.

As to topics, I had a science teacher handling the meetings. He came up with challenges each meeting. I remember one was using a ramp (actually an old slide) to teach the kids about center of gravity. Other activities involved teaching the various sensors, programming, etc.

I honestly don't remember how often we met, but it was in line with all other school clubs at the time.

This year we have decided that we would really like to make a go of it. I wanted to know if other teams meet throughout the year and if so how often does the team meet and do you have a schedule of topics that you can share?
