I know what you mean. I am a returning coach and the wording about updating some of the rules is frightening to me. I know what I was supposed to do in the past, but I’m still a bit uncertain on the whole definition of run and what can one do while in base. We’ll see what the refs say this weekend.
All in all, I’m coaching the girls to be very proud for what they’ve achieved, and the way they programmed the Cookie-Bot (that’s our robot name) to do what they ‘think’ it should do.

We did fall into the same 110 truck trap that you mention, but there was a rules clarification specifically about that one. As a returning coach, I also thought about the compass as a circle, but they caught that one two. ;-)

And we are avoiding the whole bar thingy as I was not able to understand it myself, let alone my girls. We are back to basics: push, align to wall and grab with a claw.

> [1] - For example.. My team had a 100% successful round (for the missions we had planned for) and was expecting over 600 points.. and ended up being only around 375 (due to misunderstandings in grading). I know some of this was confusion caused by us not reading the rules carefully enough (our first year ;).. One example was the truck mission which (we later found after re-reading the rules) was not 110 point, but EITHER 60 or 50 points (unless you did something very unorthodox with the truck) -- You EITHER got 60 points for dumping the load east of the transfer area.. OR for 50 points for the truck ending short of the dumpleaver with holding the full weight of the yellow bin (either or, but not both (unless you picked up the whole truck and moved it ;)) So this was a common mis-reading.. (our fault, but many people had the same confusion)
