OPINION

It must have been challenging during the robot game for the referee to easily tell what was and wasn't still in play. That probably explains why the Storage rule was changed.

I am guessing that everything in base can be stored off-field including the items like the manure and prosthesis which start there. Those large-compartment LEGO sorting trays could be handy for that.

QUESTION

Are team members allowed to handle attachments as they wait a turn at the table or do these items have to be in the base or off-field storage? This rule has changed back and forth over the years.

In the past teams would often bring things to completely in base then push them out by hand to make space in base while putting on attachments. Teams also would place attachments outside base on the table. If you watch match videos you will see both of these things frequently. Both of these things are no longer allowed.

Hello.

"R12 - Storage" states that:

  * Anything completely in Base may be moved/stored off the Field, but must stay in view of the Ref, on a stand.
  * Everything in off-Field Storage “counts” as being completely in Base.

In the "SERIOUS CHANGES FOR 2016" section, it states that:

  * On-Field Storage outside Base no longer allowed.

Question: "R12-Storage" rule seems to contradict with the "2016 changes" when it comes to "off the Field storage".

Would greatly appreciate any clarification/guidance on this.

Kuppu
