Marvin is asking the key question for M04--what makes up a piece of
crossing equipment? The Update acknowledges that two things can be
separate objects even if one "throws, pulls, pushes, carries, places" the
other.

We do have some guidance. D04 tells us whether to consider something a
part of the Robot. The Robot includes "Equipment you’ve combined with it
by hand which is not intended to separate from it, except by hand."

That's what we'll use for M04. If you have something that is going to be
the crossing equipment for M04, then any Equipment you’ve combined with it
by hand which is not intended to separate from it, except by hand, will
also be part of that crossing equipment.

If you are using two things that could reasonably be disconnected without
breaking them or taking one off the table, then those are separate things.
