To follow-up, LEGO Mindstorms tech support (1-*877*-680-2800) is replacing
the brick, shipping today, with 3 days estimated delivery.  The tech said
that they have replaced very few EV3 bricks and this was only the second
EV3 with a screen failure.

Big thanks to Phil Smith and Nick Swayne!
