Proportional control, Slower speed and balanced vehicle are important.
Depending on where the vehicle wheels are jerking can be because of
slipping of wheels due to speed of the motor in proportion to the overall
weight.

Try different speeds and put weight on the robot and see if it fixes the
issue.
