Folks,

Let me remind everyone that pictures are for guidance and example only (rule 32!). The written Field Setup instructions are what we'll go by for tournaments.

We haven't seen any rulings yet that indicate that there are any mismatches between the mat marking and the model sizes, so use the markings as described.
The Field Setup instructions use the word "perfectly" for a model or part of a model where it matches the mat marking exactly. This is almost all cases this year. The width of the lines in the outline is not usually significant

For the small bone, the bigger piece is positioned relative to the small bone, as Sonya noted, and over its mark. I've had a couple of questions about this, but it works well on my mat when I focus on the position when the pieces are aligned.

I have not seen any discrepancies with models on my mat this year. Always double-check the construction, and don't worry about variations of a millimeter--I hope that the robot design will be able to cope with that level of variability.

I have never seen a general rule "line up all the models first from one direction, etc...", although in past years I have seen this type of wording for specific models. There is no such wording this year.
