You should definitely complete the project as part of the total FLL experience. As a team with rookies every year, we have found the project to be very rewarding and sometimes the most exciting part of the experience.

Consider having your team focus on half of the robot game table for their efforts. That is what we are doing. With just 6 - 7 weeks to work, this allows the team to accomplish all of the parts of the challenge - core values, the project, and the game. Being able to do half the table very well and consistently is better than trying to do the whole table poorly and inconsistently. Judges often recognize this and reward teams that show this kind of effort.

Subject: [VADCFLL-L] Skip the Project?

We are a rookie team just getting started with the 2011 tournament requirements.
In the interest of time, we may have to focus on the robot game and not work on the Project/presentation. Is this something that is ok to do?
Our team of 7 is barely functioning together and our time may be better spent working on the game!

Thanks,
John Britto
