Before DC joined VA as a single region, it was referred to as the state tournament. Now that our region has expanded to include DC as well, it's officially called the championship tournament, but the older term is still used as well occasionally.

What is the difference between state and championship?  Does a team that qualifies for stste, later compete for championship round?
