Hello VA-DC FLL community!

Here are a few important updates and ways you can support STEM in Virginia and D.C.!

Looking for Volunteers: We have got 41 fantastic teams gearing up for our VA-DC FLL Remote Rumble events happening the next two Saturdays. If you or someone you know can join us, we would love to have you AND it would be a big help as we put these remote opportunities together for teams! Judges are needed from 8am to 3pm and referees are needed from 8am to 1pm! Everything is virtual and can be enjoyed from the comfort of your home!

  * Saturday, Feb 12: We are in need of one Core Values judge and one referee
  * Saturday, Feb 19: We are still in need of judges and refs
This is a great way to learn more about FLL, learn from other fantastic teams, and help mentor the next generation of STEM leaders. If interested in joining us, go to https://flltournament.com/eventlist.aspx Search “2021 Cargo Connect” and “VA (USA)” to volunteer!

Support our World Festival Team: Team Clueless from St Bridget Middle School in Richmond, VA will be representing VA-DC FLL in Houston during the FIRST World Championship! They have been busy, busy, busy since our regional championship. If you have a few moments and want to brighten your day… check out the two stories from WTVR Channel 6 in Richmond – Robotics Team Project May Become Law<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yhqtVuFl5Y> and These students use LEGOs to Build Robots<https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=8&v=_a2NRc2lH4c&feature=emb_logo>. You can even find out more about the bill they are getting passed through the Virginia Legislative session right now: https://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?221+sum+SB774

  * THEY NEED YOUR HELP! To take over their YouTube channel and further their work, they need YOU to subscribe to their channel. You can do so here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCw5CMgRTB_0mmC4F3x3z8aQ You can also check out their high scoring run from Championship and see them testifying before the State Senate Subcommittee!

Stay Connected with our VA-DC FLL Newsletter: We are bringing back to life our VA-DC FLL newsletter. This newsletter will be sent out quarterly and will showcase all things FLL (Upcoming event schedules, grants, stories, volunteer opportunities, etc). It will cover all topics for FLL Challenge, Explore, and Discover! If you weren’t getting the newsletter before, be sure to sign up here https://va-dcfll.org/stay-connected/. Our first quarter newsletter will be out next week!

Virtual High-Fives!
