I asked the same question earlier and had got this answer (pasted below).

My take is.... you could run a team with as little as 2 members this year....of course FIRST org. may not like it....but it will be still within FIRST's rules. Yes, teamwork is essential...........but in these times with COVID-19.....many kids / coaches / parents have serious concerns. I do not want to start an argument here, but I have heard everyone has a different opinion of how much infection risk they wanna accept.....so YMMV. Just my two cents 🙂

In previous years, a team has required registration of 2-10 members. Teamwork is fundamental to parts of the FLL-Challenge experience. I don't know that that will change for the upcoming RePLAY season.

I know that FIRST thinks that it is highly desirable that teams can meet in person, especially so that team members can be hands on with their robot and parts. That might be easier to do with a smaller number of members, if you want to maintain rigorous social distancing.

There will certainly be challenges for a team that wants to meet mostly/entirely virtually. Check out FLL Share and Learn on Facebook--there are a lot of coaches sharing their thoughts there.

Subject: [VADCFLL-L] General question/team

What is the minimum number of kids needed to build a team? Is the number different due to this year's existing condition?
