You need a new table.  You may also need a new carpenter.  A school should
be using heavier/sturdier materials than a foam table.

The north-south (short) side dimensions seem to be off by 1.75 inches (the
thickness of a 2x4).  Standard practice tables should have a double wall on
the north side (at least in the center section as each year there is
usually a mission that straddles the wall (the longstanding coopertition
theme).  Ideally there should also be a 2-2 inch extension ledge level with
the inner table surface to support the shared mission model on the outside.

Please note that this year's  competition mat needs to be trimmed by 1-2 mm
on the North edge to fit a regulation table (new materials!)
