Subject: [VADCFLL-L] How to calculate robot distance on the feild

http://www.va-dcfll.org/distance-to-rotation-formula/

I submitted a page to the VADCFLL site, and they did some great edits that made it more clear and readable for coaches and team members. The formulas given help kids work out how far the robot has to travel (in rotations) to get from point a to point b. There's also two formulas for calculating a turns, which is uber helpful. Of course, all the math is made in "a perfect world", and your robot will have physics acting it on ( weight, friction- or lack thereof, inertia, etc) so all the distances and turns aren't perfect all the time, but will certainly give you a starting point with which to work! Plus, it brings math to the fore front of what you're doing, which is one of the great advantages of FLL.

If anyone has any questions on the page, Please let me know. Thanks to Kim and Rosalind for their work on that page.:)
Brandy
