Hello coaches!
Happy New Year! I wanted to share an opportunity for middle school students happening at UVA in February, organized by the Society of Women Engineers. Please see the email below and the information sheet and class offerings attached. It looks like a really cool event!

Best,
Sonya

Dear counselors and teachers,

My name is Lily and I am part of the Society of Women Engineers at University of Virginia. We are opening registration for our middle school outreach event called USTEP (University Student Taught Engineering Program) which will be held on Saturday, February 15th.

USTEP is a one-day, fun-filled, educational outreach program to serve underrepresented middle school students in the local Charlottesville community. Middle schoolers will be able to have a one of a kind experience to visit Grounds and take classes taught by UVA Engineering students.

The idea for USTEP was inspired by an event called Splash<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__esp.mit.edu_learn_Splash_index.html&d=DwIFAg&c=eLbWYnpnzycBCgmb7vCI4uqNEB9RSjOdn_5nBEmmeq0&r=k6Oa5GxfBPFMgGjb2r5QIoEOeBZs9xbNIpA0kLw_kFQ&m=wSeXlguzQ7Z0nIzol2T79F4EugznKupAOdOfI_QS5mk&s=amaNDjwxezc4Axr-aE0SFHEPoPl4ZEAlMJooUcQHgAQ&e=> that is held at universities all over the United States. The ultimate goal of USTEP is to allow students to be inspired by college students and get excited about learning new things in a fun and stress-free environment.

USTEP is free of charge and for all genders since we want to encourage as many students to attend as possible!

If you can send the registration link below to your students that would be great! We also have attached an information sheet and class catalog below as well.

Please reach out if you have any questions!

Best,
Lily Lin
