Don't forget the $79 field kit fee- And if your team is lucky enough, the
$100 state registration :) plus the World competition fee (which I do not
what that is because we never made it that far. )

Lego mindstorms are backwards compatible, which means you can use the NXT
software on the EV3 (to my knowledge) but not the other ways around. You
can download the NXT software from their website.  It's free now!

A brand new team buying the kit will need about $800. Without the kit, it's
about half that (if you don't go to state).  $450 divided between 8 kids is
really a decent investment for a season of activity.  We pay much more for
soccer each season after new shoes and uniforms.  Remind the parents this
is sports for their children's minds! :)
