To stress what Bill said, don’t feel you have to compete at this score level. I share to give inspiration, not to raise the bar. Robot performance is just one part of FLL. These teams had an extra 4 months and most of these teams worked years to reach this level.

Looking forward to next season.

Subject: Re: [VADCFLL-L] Worlds High Score Posted - 1,081

I did not see any teams try to move the green bins into safety during any of the official rounds. After the official rounds, as a demonstration, we paired up Squirt the Turtle (USA) with Universal Serial Bus (Japan). Universal Serial Bus was able to deliver two of the green bins to the transfer and Squirt the Turtle picked them up and brought them back to their safety. This created the 1000+ score (I believe it was 1031 during the demonstration match).

There were two teams that came to my table and I was just a spectator for the entire time: Universal Serial Bus (Japan) and Mechatronic Ants (Spain). At the end of both of their matches, I just said "wow" and high-fived the teams before scoring their table.

Most importantly, all of the teams had FUN! When you see these scores and watch these videos, please do not be intimidated by what you see. FLL teams compete at all different levels. You and your team should strive to be better and be proud of what you can accomplish.

Enjoy the off season. We'll see you next year, if not sooner.

Bill

PS: If you did not know, the head referees for the 2016 FLL World Festival were "Virginia's Own" Steve Scherr and Karen Berger.

The team, Squirt the Turtle from NH, also had the highest robot score, 976, during official rounds.
