This is a great question...thank you for bringing it up.

Based on the FLL Participation Rules, FLL teams can only attend one official qualifying tournament. (source: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.firstlegoleague.org_challenge_participationrules&d=BQIFAw&c=eLbWYnpnzycBCgmb7vCI4uqNEB9RSjOdn_5nBEmmeq0&r=J5fb0ELkRoh7TzAGYz99sSMvB-c7i4AC0HDT2OVPrww&m=q9Nb2MBe_5OewWrBW0IB9Yokx3Qnd_eEnxN6fH_U4HU&s=3OTcP6myle9JKzneFo-47wEQLcbyT-BQiRY_YySM5ps&e= )

"(FLL teams)...may attend other events for fun (if space allows), they are only eligible to win awards at the first official event of each level attended during the season. Teams may not receive multiple chances to advance to the next level of competition."

One good thing to always keep in mind is this...?

What your team learned during their FLL season is more important than any trophy or medal that they may receive.

?So, here's WHAT YOU CAN DO AFTER YOUR FLL TOURNAMENT:

LET THE FUN BEGIN...

Consider applying for the FLL Global Innovation Award (related to your project's innovative solution). For FLL teams who participated in this award in the past, please know that there are changes to how this is done this season. VA-DC FLL will send more information about this sometime in November/December.
Attend an off-season FLL Scrimmage. These off-season events are run similar to FLL tournaments but without the official awards. These may be scheduled during the spring months (March to May). Information about these events will be sent via the VA-DC FLL listserve.
Learn more about robot building/programming. Allow your team members to explore on their own. Encourage your team members to attend enrichment programs to learn more about the LEGO Mindstorm EV3.

Volunteer as a FIRST exhibitor at local STEM events. This is a fun way for teams to share their work and inspire others to consider STEM programs like FIRST. There are many opportunities for FLL teams to volunteer at local events to represent VA-DC FLL and the FIRST organization. Information about these type of events will be sent via the VA-DC FLL listserve throughout the year.

Participate as a FIRST Team Ambassador during FIRST tournaments for FTC and FRC and during Jr. FLL Expos. This is a great way for VA-DC FLL teams to celebrate with other FIRST teams (Jr. FLL, FTC and FRC). Support the progression of FIRST programs from Kindergarten to 12th grade.

Mentor rookie FLL teams and Jr. FLL teams. Spread the word...share the knowledge and help grow the FIRST programs.

For students moving on to middle school or aging out of FLL, consider the next FIRST program-FIRST Tech Challenge. If your team wants to consider this, attend one of the upcoming FTC Qualifying Tournaments in Virginia, DC and Maryland. The FTC qualifying tournaments take place in December and January.

Wishing all of you THE BEST at your upcoming FLL tournament!

With high 5's and great admiration,
