Those who have visited FLL booth at the State Fair, Meadows Park last weekend got chance to see our demo for both 2" and 3" wheels capable of going over the Dynanometer (technical word for the rolling bar).  Both this wheels are available in the FLL education set.  Both this design will have trade offs while making tight turns while speed/torque factors can be accomplished by using gear(s).

Ensure your team don't make mistake calculating circumference (1 rotation) by assumption 3" (7.62 cm) but 3.21" (8.16 cm).  Have your team explore such dimensions engraved on the wheels.

A sample design under the robot hood (if requested) and at State fair demo is included. Due to limit on the attachment only one image is included. Rookie teams should concentrate on simple design and skip gear(s) portion during their first stage. Every team will have different design, frustration, high-fives and accomplishments. Most importantly have fun, don't give up. Same time don't loose focus on Project and Teamwork part.

My team has got a good solution to getting the robot over the
obstruction (ramp) but getting the ramp *to* the obstruction has
proven to be a real issue!
