From Kimberly Lebeck ([log in to unmask])
The Women's Studies Department and Sexuality Studies Program of the
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa are
conducting a search for an advanced Associate or Full Professor
specializing in the field of feminist theory. The successful candidate
will help build and lead, as chair, a newly reconfigured program: the
Department of Gender, Women's, and Sexuality Studies. The candidate
should have a distinguished record of scholarly publication, innovative
teaching, as well as skills and interest in academic leadership and
administration. The successful candidate should possess expertise in
theories of sexual difference and gender, and/or subjectivity,
particularly as they intersect with race, class, ethnicity, and
nationality. We seek a theorist with strength in the humanities who will
bring to our graduate and undergraduate curriculum expertise relating to
the specific contributions feminist scholars have made to contemporary
thought in their engagement with various strains of critical discourse.
The Department and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are strongly
committed to gender and ethnic diversity; the strategic plans of the
University,
College and Department reflect this commitment. Women and members of
underrepresented minorities are especially encouraged to apply. The
University
of Iowa is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
Candidates must submit applications online at http://jobs.uiowa.edu/ . No
mail paper applications can be accepted. Attachments to the application
must include cover letter, curriculum vitae, brief description of research
program, and the contact information for three letters of recommendation.
Refer to requisition #56103. Screening begins November 1, 2008 and
continues until the position is filled.
