While it is quite provocative, and largely lackng in practical "how to"
ideas, I have found philosopher Linda R. Hirschman's short book GET TO WORK
(AND GET A LIFE BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE) to work quite well in the classroom.
Unusually for a philosopher, she writes in an irreverent, engaging, and
accessible style, provides some helpful feminist history and context, and
makes philosophy relevant and exciting, especially regarding questions of
"choice" and individual liberty.
Also, there's this recent Newsweek article, which addresses the failure of
men who have been laid off from their jobs to do housework:

Hi, FEAST!
I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on reading materials
dealing with how to have an equitable distribution of household labor in a
relationship. I'm looking for either academic writings on this topic or
more "self-help" type writings. I vaguely recall an article by Jean Hampton
on this topic, but maybe I'm misremembering?
Thanks, Azzurra
