Hello Jr.FLL coaches and friends,
I want to pass on some Jr.FLL information:
1. Jr.FLL Expo - Saturday, April 21st - Science Museum, Richmond VA
FIRST Robotics Team Sparky 384 is hosting another Jr.FLL Expo and
there are still a few spots left.
It will be from 10 am - 12:30 pm and the registration fee is
$25.00 (to cover the cost of medals).
If you are interested, please send an email to Sally Sylvester,
[log in to unmask] with your team name,
team number, number of students, and where your team is from.
2. You can still register a team for the Snack Attack season.
If you have been thinking about starting a team, it isn't too late
for the Snack Attack season.
Registration does close at some point in April, so don't wait too
much longer. A few people have
asked if they can register now to get their materials, but than
meet with their team in June
and July once school ends. That is a great idea, a fun summer
activity for students and one that gets
them excited about science and technology. The team would be
ready to go than in August for the new season.
3. Super Seniors - The theme has been announced for next year and
registration will open in August - start getting excited and thinking
about ways your team can get involved improving the lives of
seniors in your community. This will be a great topic that will allow
young students to really make a difference to those in their
community!!
Coming August 2012
Can Junior FIRST® LEGO® League teams improve the quality of life for
seniors by learning about the obstacles some people face as they get
older? In the 2012, SUPER SENIORS(SM) Challenge, teams will learn
about simple machines as they build a model made of LEGO® elements with
a motorized moving part and create a team Show-Me Poster to represent
their findings. Over 16,000 children ages 6 to 9 from 5 countries will
learn about the challenges some seniors may have getting around,
keeping in touch with friends and family or staying active and fit.
Thanks to all of you that have participated in the Snack Attack season.
Jr.FLL is growing rapidly in Virginia/DC and that is very exciting!
Remember if your team is aging out of Jr.FLL, consider moving up to
FIRST LEGO League (FLL)!! Together we can all help to inspire
students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Many thanks,
Sally Sylvester
