If you need legislature resource, contact good friend and Delegate from my district David Bulova. He is aware of FLL and climate connection challenge. He serves on Agricultural & Natural resources committee as well as Governors Appointee on climate change. Feel free to refer my name. Good luck.

I believe there is a bill on plastic bag containment in the retail industry. The patron for this bill is from Richmond. Vast majority of garbage comes to VA landfill from northeast states.

Good luck.

Sonya,

Thanks for asking about the Green GLOOOCS, they are getting
very excited about the World Festival.  The Green GLOOOC
himself is even going to make the trip to Atlanta (our giant
paper mache mascot).

In the next couple weeks we will be in touch with all the FLL
teams in VA/DC.  We'll be brainstorming on how we will
be representing all theVA/DC teams, but have
been busy working on some legislation.

The team has been busy getting involved in trying to help
get some legislation passed in the General Assembly.  They
are going on Monday to talk before the Senate Committee on
Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources.  Their focus
this year has been the reusable bag, and raising awareness on
the importance of switching from paper and plastic bags to the
reusable bag.  They have held many educational events on this
topic and even spoke before the Governor's Commission on
Climate Change.  They spoke on the importance of Virginia
becoming a national leader in the use of the reusable bag.

The team is also working on their robot so that it will hopefully
be able to do all the missions in the 2 1/2 minutes.

We'll be in touch soon with everyone!!

Hello FLL friends,

I have gotten a request from a grandmother looking for a team
for her grandson in Virginia Beach.  The boy is 11 years old and
has played with Legos his entire life!!  His family is currently
stationed overseas, but will be arriving back in Virginia Beach soon.
The grandmother would love to find a team for him, so if anyone in
the Virginia Beach area knows of a team looking for a member,
please let me know.  I told her that I would look around for a team.

Thanks for your help on this.
