Subject: FLL
grant opportunity - MUST APPLY QUICKLY -- Fw: 2009 Season Team Hardship
Awards
Importance: High
Here
is a good grant opportunity to start new FIRST LEGO League (FLL)
robotics teams. Must apply ASAP -- by June 26 for best chance of a
grant. These Team Hardship awards can cover $630 of
the $800 needed to start a new FLL team. (Additional non-fixed
cost team expenses may be another $30-50.)
The
Application is attached. Complete ASAP and email it to Nick
Swayne at JMU as quickly as you can.
When
completing these application fields:
in Operational Partner enter "James Madison University"
in Region enter "Virginia"
The
W-9 question lower in the form is refers to JMU's W-9, not your
organization's.
This
is an opportunity to create new area FLL teams so they can participate in
the FLL Regional tournament at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education
Center on Saturday, November 12, 2009.
Please
forward this to anyone who might know someone or be interested in creating new
FIRST LEGO League (FLL) robotics teams for this fall. Free
robotics and FLL coaching workshops will be offered in August and
September.

[VADCFLL-L] 2009 Season Team Hardship Awards
Late breaking
news…
Team Hardship Grants
from FIRST.
We would really like
to use these hardship grants to cover the cost of starting new teams – since the
cost is twice as much as just continuing. However, given the economy there
may be a few teams contemplating their ability to continue with the
program.
Each region will be
allocated a couple of these grants from the FIRST organization.
Please forward this
to anyone you know who might be considering starting a new team this year.
Get the form back to
me ASAP.
Nick
