Hi Donna,

I received the reply below from Scott Evans, who is the FLL rule arbiter.  The answer is yes, the passenger carrier can be part of the robot.

Subject: Can transport device be attached to robot?

Dear FLL,

Can the transport device be attached to the robot when it arrives at the round target area?

Sure.

My assumption is yes, since it is not explicitly prohibited by the rules, then it would be allowed.

Exactly.

By the way, the rules are so much easier to understand this year.  Great work!

Oh, that makes my day - Thanks for saying!

Have an awesome day,

Scott

We have a diffrerence of opinion about the multiple passenger safety
test mission. Some think that the passenger carrier can be a part of
the robot. Then when the robot ends on the round target area carrying
the passengers, then we will get the 10 points for this mission as well
as the 25 for the Target Spot mission. Others think that the
passengers in their carrier must be separate from the robot and be
somehow placed in the target area by the robot.

Has anyone seen an official interpretation?
