Yes lots of bowls and plates for parts. One team member can help hunt for really hard to find parts. As the missions get built and the volume of parts go down you can start to separate parts by color and style of part. Then the building velocity increases.

Please check what the kids have built periodically against the PDFs. I'd mistakes are made early in the build process, it can take a while to correct the model. So check often.

The field kit should have come with detailed instructions on the video.  First we took out all the pieces from the plastic bags and took disposible dinner plates and put all like pieces together on a plate.  Suggest you bring a number of PCs or laptops and display the instructions --it is very hard to make copies (too many pages and they need to be in color).  Then we broke up the team into sections with two kids building each of the field kit pieces.  Bonus, after the plates got cleared (i..e, the pieces were all used up) we had a pizza party afterwards using the plates.  should take a long day (4 hour session to complete)-- Monday (columbus day may be ideal)

Rookie Coach and team also needs assistance with assembly of the field kit setup.  Any suggestions, ideas to help us would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Kim

Subject: Re: [VADCFLL-L] Rookie coach and team needing help with attachments

Valerie,

I'm not quite sure how to answer your question.  I'll take the general
approach.  Attachments, if need, should be constructed to fit the need for
accomplishing the mission.  Take for example, returning the doctor to base
so you can send her back out to the patient area, the team would probably
want to construct an attachment that captures, in some way, the doctor.  It
may, or may not be moveable.  You will be surprised by the variety of
solutions you see at a tournament.  The team needs to construct something
that best fits their approach to solving the mission

Now, onto the moveable portion of the question. The only way teams I've
coached have had moveable attachments is to have a motor on-board to drive
the attachment (yes, I realize there are ways to have moveable attachments
with out motors).  As I said earlier, its all a matter of need and how the
the team wants to construct the solution.

I hope I'm making sense.  If not, let me know and I'll try again.

Thanks,
