We used one of the foam tables last year. They're great for transportation and storage. The two problems we encountered were with the game surface not being as smooth/level as it would be with a wood table, and, depending on how you design and program your robot, the performance against the side walls is not the same because rubber wheels grab the foam more than do on wood.

I've also seen some lightweight tables that don't use plywood as the base, but they can be more delicate.
