Of course- the kids are in charge of the board run and missions completely. But knowledge is power, so as long as the kids know what the points are, they will most likely, but not assuredly, come that conclusion.
I had my kids put drafting tape with all the points on each object (add an "e" if the points are for each object) Then they start their strategy- easy or high points, combo or simple programming.  These are the decisions that get made after they understand the point system for each mission.
Thank-you for reminding anyone who needs it that the kids' control the mission runs,

The discussion about rules clarifications is helpful and needed for coaches to best explain the rules to the team members; however, let’s leave it up to the team members to figure out the best plans for solving the challenge.

Thanks!

You'll get 6 points for each yellow bacteria in the start.  You'll get 3 points for each one in the sink. SOO it would appear the better point plan would be to simply leave them where they started.

Subject: [VADCFLL-L] Rule clarification about yellow bacteria

I've visited techbrick's website and downloaded the spreadsheet on point scoring.  The sum of bacteria in the sink incremented to 60, so I checked back at the rules.  If the yellow bacteria is this years touch penalty and are good for us, should we be flushing them down the sink?  Thanks.
