I wonder how many kids it would take to break Brandy's 10 simultaneous brains at work rule :-)

P.S.  Don't flame me.  I just couldn't resist.

I would say the heart of the rule of ten kids is that no more than ten brains get to work on the competition materials and solutions.  To me, I would wonder, is this the first time your sub has been present?  If they were present before, did they contribute to the team's ideas and solution?   Because it's really hard to keep kids who have an idea about something from sharing with the group, and that would break the ten kids rule (which is different from collaboration) . If they were not present unless a team members was absent at the last second, would they integrate well into the core value challenge, & how would they know what lines to follow for the skit?
Would the tournament know? No. Is it a good idea? Unless you have less than a ten kid crew, I don't actually think so.
IMHO,
Brandy

It has certainly been known to happen, Scott. We don't check IDs, only head counts and ages. The only concern on your part should be that if you are competing as a Div I team, your sub should not belong to Div II.

Don’t take this as canon, but ISTR that the team roster is only presented at the tournament, so if there were actually more kids on the team, but only the max of 10 show up at the tourney, nobody would even know or care.

Mind you, a team that large will be interesting to manage!

Subject: [VADCFLL-L] alternates

Still waiting on an answer from FLL.  Has anyone been able to place an alternate on the team for tournament day if a team member is sick?
