The bowling ball will be in the base. The robot will take it and try to knock the pins down. If it misses the first time, the ref will bring the ball back to the base and the team can try again. The ref will bring it back to the base only once though.

We've assumed that the bowling ball starts in base on the first try. Today one of my kids suddenly said that the ball has to be positioned on the bowling runway (or whatever that's called) for the first try because he's seen it in a video. Could someone clarify who is right?
