Gina,
We found ourselves in the same position this year and have been discussing ways to improve involvement for next year. One of the issues that we have is that many of the children’s parents are working two jobs so if parent involvement is required these children will not be able to participate. We also have another issue that most of the student’s parents do not speak English or speak it very well. We are looking at partnering with a local church or other organization(s) to help us out. It may be an option that you may want to consider as well.
Thanks,
Richard Teel

Subject: [VADCFLL-L] Parent Involvement/Expectations Contract Sample?
Hello Teams/Coaches
Our first Lego League Competition was very rewarding for our team, but totally exhausting for me the coach, mostly because I received very little help from any of the parents. It was suggested that to get more parent involvement/commitment, I put together a contract outlining my expectations of parents.
Does anyone have a sample of one they might share? I am having difficulty figuring out how to word it and what kinds of expectations I should put forth.
That would really help next season. I appreciate any help you might offer so that things will run more smoothly next round.
Thank you for a wonderful experience at Maggie Walker Governors school today!!!
Thanks,
Gina
